Kevin Bales is the world's leading expert on modern slavery. He is president of Free the Slaves, the US sister-organization of Anti-Slavery International, the world's oldest human rights group. His book Disposable People: New Slavery in the Global Economy was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, published in ten languages and made into a film that won two Emmys and the Peabody Award. He is Emeritus Professor, Roehampton University, London.
