After these Duads, the next combination consisted of Triads, formed by the addition of a Vowel, or a Consonant prefixed or inserted. 1. A Vowel inserted: aw, to breathe; law, to permit; law, to send; iw, to bear, to think. 2. A Consonant prefixed: Cáw, to live; diw, to bind; xíw, to go; rów, to drink; qúw, to produce. 3. A Consonant inserted: yw, to drive, to lead; dw, to eat; inw, to come; gw, to excite; dw, to flow. From these original combinations the formation of all words will be easily deduced'. Thus from ayw are formed ἄγαν, ἀγάλλω, ἀγέλη, αγείρω, ἀγορὰς ἄγρας αγυιάς &c. From βάω are formed βάζω, βάθος, βαίνω, βαιός, βάλλω, &c. From δέω come δέος, δείδω, δειλός, δέμω, δεσε μὲς, δεσπότης, δεύω, δέχομαι, δοῦλος, &c. It is remarkable that the oriental Primitives generally end in Consonants. Thus from the Ilebrew, AR, to flow, are derived Aur, light, aǹp, oupavòs, ópáw, ŵpa, aura, aurora, aurum. AT, to fly, Act, a bird of prey, derós. El, to shine, έλη, ἥλιος, σέλας, σελήνη. OR, to rise, pw, "pos, orior, origo, horreo, &c. Hence the study of Hebrew will not only enable the Christian to read the Scriptures with greater accuracy and satisfaction, but will supply the Philologist and the general Scholar with some of the most probable etymologies of many words in the Greek and Latin languages.
