Mr. Mason, from the Committee on Foreign Relations, to whom was referred, the 13th inst, the treaty between the United States and China, signed at Tientsin on the 18th day of June, 1858, reported it without amendment.

On motion by Mr. Mason,

The Senate, by unanimous consent, proceeded to consider the said treaty.

The said treaty was read the second time and considered as in Com mittee of the Whole; and no amendment being made, it was reported to the Senate.

Mr. Mason submitted the following resolution for consideration: Resolved (two-thirds of the Senators present concurring), That the Senate advise and consent to the ratification of the treaty between the

United States and China, signed at Tientsin, on the 18th day of June, 1858.

The Senate, by unanimous consent, proceeded to consider the said resolution.
