The Senate, by unanimous consent, proceeded to consider the nominations of Anthony Q. Keasbey, Benajah Deacon, Julius White, Isaac H. Thomas, Joseph M. Livermore, John B. Henion, George W. Vanderbilt, Edward L. Hartz, James M. Warner, John A. Wilcox, Washington O. Donoughue, Richard L. Cary, Charles J. Orton, Jacob Jussen, and George C. Bestor; and

Resolved, That the Senate advise and consent to the appointment of the said persons, agreeably to their nominations respectively.

Mr. Grimes submitted the following resolution for consideration: Resolved, That a committee be appointed to wait on the President of the United States and inform him that the Senate, having finished the business before it, is ready to adjourn.

The Senate, by unanimous consent, proceeded to consider the said resolution; and

The Senate resumed the consideration of the resolution submitted by Mr. Sumner, the 19th inst., advising a reference of the existing dispute between the Governments of the United States and Great Britain, concerning the boundary line at Puget's Sound, to the arbitration of the Republic of Switzerland.

After debate

Ordered, That the further consideration of the said resolution be postponed to the 2d Monday of December next.
