Resolved, That the nomination of Frank Munroe, aged 19 years; Robert W. Huntington, aged 20 years; Joseph Fairchild Baker, aged 20 years; John H. Bonough, aged 22 years; William A. Parker, aged 30 years; William H. Hale, aged 29 years, and John H. Grimes, aged 21 years, be returned to the President, and he be informed that the Senate adhere to the opinion expressed in the resolution passed by them of the 19th of July instant, and that the Senate are of opinion that rank and position in the Army, Navy, or Marine Corps should not be left to be decided by lot, but that, all other things being equal, preference should be given to age.
