XXX. 1850, 1851, 1852, 1853, 1854, 1855, 1856, 1857, 1858, 1859, This Index embraces only such matters as are not common to all the volumes of the Almanac; but such matters as are found in all, or nearly all, the volumes, viz. the Astronomical and Meteorological Information, the Register of the various Officers of the Government of the United States and of the Individual States, the Army and Navy Lists, the Judiciary, Intercourse with Foreign Nations, Congress, the Mint, Public Lands, PostOffice Department, and Public Laws and Resolutions, the Annual Tables relating to the Commerce and Navigation, and Revenue and Expenditures of the United States, the Tabular views of the Population, Religious Denominations, Colleges, Railroads, Banks, &c., the Chronicle of Events, &c., are not particularly specified in this Index. The general nature and extent of the information given under these several heads may be seen by reference to the Contents and Index of the present volume (ante, pp. v - viii), and by an examination of the volume itself.
