The Portrait of Mr. WH

It is a short story, which relates a conversation, in which the theory that says that William Shakespeare's sonnets were written by the poet's love for the young actor Willie Hughes is discussed. The only evidence for this are two puns that are supposed to be in the sonnets. The anonymous narrator is at first a skeptic, then a believer, and finally wooes the reader; He concludes by saying, "There is really a lot to be said for Willie Hughes's theory of Shakespeare's sonnets." The final fact and fiction have merged with each other.
