ven among men whereby we must be saved, but e name of Jesus Christ."

em;

Come to your Savior, with HUMILITY as a sinr: come with GRATITUDE and LOVE. For ye enot come unto the mount that might be touched, d that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and rkness, and tempest, and the sound of a trumpet, d the voice of words: when, so terrible was the ht, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and ake. But ye are come unto mount Sion; and to the city of the living God-the heavenly Jeruand to an innumerable company of angels; d to the general assembly and church of the firstn, which are written in heaven; and to God, the dge of all; and to the spirits of just men made rfect; and to Jesus the Mediator of the new enant; and to the blood of sprinkling, that aketh better things than that of Abel. See, then, it ye refuse not him that speaketh!-buteiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us d fast grace, whereby we may serve God acceply, with reverence and godly fear.*

ON THE DEATH OF A CHILD AT DAY BREAK

BY THE REV. RICHARD CECIL.

"Let me go, for the day breaketh."--GENESIS 32: 36

CEASE here longer to detain me,
Kindest mother drown'd in woe,
Now thy kind caresses pain me;
Morn advances-let me go.
See yon orient streak appearing!
Harbinger of endless day;

Hark! a voice the darkness cheering,
Calls my new-born soul away!

Lately launch'd a trembling stranger,
On this world's wild boisterous flood,
Pierc'd with sorrows, toss'd with danger,
Gladly I return to God.

Now my cries shall cease to grieve thee,
Now my trembling heart find rest;
Kinder arms than thine receive me,
Softer pillow than thy breast.

Weep not o'er these eyes that languish,
Upward turning toward their home;
Raptur'd they'll forget all anguish,
While they wait to see thee come.
There, my mother, pleasures centre--
-Weeping, parting, care, or woe
Ne'er our Father's house shall enter-
--Morn advances-let me go.

As through this calm and holy dawning,
Silent glides my parting breath,
To an EVERLASTING MORNING--
Gently close my eyes in death.
Blessings, endless, richest blessings,
Pour their streams upon thy heart!
(Though no language yet possessing)
Breathes my spirit ere we part.
Yet to leave thee sorrowing rends me,—
Now again his voice I hear;
Rise!-may every grace attend thee,
Rise, and seek to meet me there!

THE END.
