A D A M, I is not meerly from an Ambitim to make the most publick Profession of my Gratitude, that I take the Confidence of presenting Tou with this
Book ; but because I apprebend it, in a peculia ar manner, suitable to your Circumstances, and qualified for a favourablé Acceptance. The constant Strain of Piety, which animates the whole Conposition, will not fail to recommend it to so Ex: cellent and Devont a Perfon : And the many moving Reflections upon Afflicted Virtue are so exactly calculated for those Tryals, which the Divine Providence ( always Wife and Good ) hath thought fit to exercise you with ; that, as they passed under my Pen, they frequently brought Tou into my Thoughts : Tou, Madam, who have so great Očcasion for, so just a Title to, those True Comforts deministred here.
