in this district, who, or whose parents, once drew the breath of spiritual life within the Church of God. The rector earnestly hopes that the eyes of his people may be opened to see the present ill effects of this sad state of things, and the ruin, social and spiritual, which unless remedied, it will inevitably entail upon them.

This is a new parish, organized a few weeks ago, by leave of the last Convention. It will ask to be admitted into union with the Convention at its present sitting. With the exception of having changed its corporate title, and organized as a parish, with metes and bounds, it is virtually the same body as that congregation which was heretofore known by the name of Grace Church, Hungary Neck. A generous friend in the city of Baltimore, who however withholds his or her name, in the course of last winter presented the parish with the liberal sum of $150, to defray the expenses of plastering. The church is now finished with the exception of painting. The rector has raised during the last conventional year, among his personal friends, about eighty dollars, and additional subscriptions among the congregation to the amount of about a hundred and ten dollars-of this latter sam but little has been paid in. The available assets of the parish are about one hundred dollars. The debt amounts to two hundred dollars, and I am sorry to say there is no prospect of its being speedily cancelled. J. CHIPCHASE, Rector.

The new church edifice in Easton, having been relieved from debt, was consecrated soon after the rising of the last Convention, and has since been supplied with an organ. Funds are in a course of collection, to provide an organ for the parish church, and a bell for the new church. Some peculiar attention has been given to the colored population, and the holy-days have been observed with increased attention. A small Bible class has been sustained, and the children of the Sunday School been publicly and regularly catechised by the rector.

The rector takes pleasure also in reporting, that during the year the communion plate has been enlarged, by the addition of two beautiful silver goblets, the gift of a venerable and valued communicant, now gone, as we trust, to her heavenly rest; and also of two large silver alms dishes, the gift of another esteemed member of the parish, ever ready in every good

work, and who, we trust, may long be spared to bless us with her kind sympathy and Christian zeal.

The parish generally, he is happy to add, appears at present in a healthy and improving condition, while a growing interest is clearly manifested in all the services and institutions of the Church.

The undersigned commenced his duties as rector of St. Andrew's Church, on the first day of August, 1847.

He has officiated in the church regularly twice every Sabbath, with one exception, up to the 2nd of April. A third service has been held occasionally for colored persons. He has also preached at different places in the vicinity of Clear Spring, for the accommodation of those distant members of his congregation who are prevented from attendance on the regular services of the church.

The undersigned would report, that he feels encouraged by the evidences of kind interest which many have shown in behalf of the Church in Clear Spring. Through the liberality of several ladies, a silver plate and a pair of silver goblets for Communion Service have been presented to the church, which, with other substantial tokens of interest, have entitled them to the thanks of the congregation.
