From the Epiftle of PAUL to the ROMANS.

CHAP. II.

Herefore thou art

and immortality, eternal life: 8 But unto them that are in-contentious, and do not obey excufable, O man, the truth, but obey unrighteousness, that teousness, indignation and wrath,

whosoever thou art that judgeft: for wherein thou judgeft another, thou condemneft thyfelf; for thou that judgeft doeft the fame things.

2 But we are fure that the judgement of God is according to truth against them which commit fuch things.

3 And thinkeft thou this, O man, that judgeft them which do fuch things, and doeft the fame, that thou fhalt escape the judgement of God?

4 Or defpifeft thou the riches of his goodnefs and forbearance and long-fuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee. to repentance?

5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treafureft up unto thyfelf wrath against the day of wrath, and revelation of the righteous judgement of God;

6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds: 7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing feek for glory and honour

9 Tribulation and anguish upon every foul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile ;

10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew firft, and also to the Gentile:

II For there is no respect of perfons with God.

12 For as many as have finned without law, fhall also perifh without law: and as many as have finned in the law, fhall be judged by the law;

13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law fhall be justified.

14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

16 In the day when God fhall judge the fecrets of men by Jefus Chrift according to my gospel.

25 For circumcifion verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcifion is made uncircumcifion.

17 Behold, thou art called 26 Therefore if the uncira Jew, and refteft in the cumcifion keep the righte law, and makest thy boast of ousness of the law, fhall not God, his uncircumcifion be count18 And knoweft his will,ed for circumcifion? and approvest the things that are more excellent, being inftructed out of the law ;

19 And art confident that thou thyfelf art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,

27 And fhall not uncircumcifion which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcifion doft tranfgrefs the law?

28 For he is not a Jew 20 An instructor of the which is one outwardly; foolish, a teacher of babes, neither is that circumcifion which haft the form of know-which is outward in the ledge and of the truth in the flesh: law.

21 Thou therefore which teachest another, teacheft thou not thyfelf? thou that preacheft a man fhould not fteal, doft thou steal?

22 Thou that fayeft a man fhould not commit adultery, doft thou commit adultery: thou that abhorrest idols, doft thou commit facrilege?

23 Thou that makest thy boaft of the law, through breaking the law, difhonoureft thou God?

24 For the name of God is blafphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it

29 But he is a Jew which is one inwardly and circumcifion is that of the heart, in the fpirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

CHAP. VIII. THERE is therefore now

no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jefus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Chrift Jefus hath made me free from the law of fin and death.

3 For what the law could F 2

ing his own Son in the like nefs of finful flefh, and for fin, condemned fin in the flesh :

4 That the righteoufness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

5¶ For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors not to the flesh to live after the flesh.

13 ¶ For if ye live after the flesh, ye fhall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye fhall live.'

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the fons of God.

15 For ye have not re

again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adop tion, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witnefs with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Chrift: if fo be that we fuffer with him, that we may be alfo glorified together.

18 For I reckon that the fufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which fhall be revealed in us.

19 For the earnest expectation of the 'creature waiteth for the manifestation of the fons of God.

20 For the creature was made

made fubject to vanity, not willingly, but by reafon of him who hath fubjected the fame in hope,

21 Because the creature itself alfo fhall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we k know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

24 For we are faved by hope. But hope that is seen is not hope for what a man feeth why doth he yet hope for?

25 But if we hope for that we fee not, then do we with patience wait for it.

26 Likewise the Spirit alfo helpeth our infirmities. For we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh interceffion for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 And he that fearcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh interceffion

for the faints according to the will of God.

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow, he alfo did predeftinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the first-born

among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predeftinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he alfo juftified: and whom he juftified, them he alfo glorified.

31 What shall we then fay to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

32 He that fpared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him alfo freely give us all things?

33 Who fhall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that juftifieth.

34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Chrift that died, yea, rather that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh interceffion for us.

35 Who fhall feparate us from the love of Chrift? fhall tribulation, or diftrefs, or perfecution, or famine, or F 3

36 As it is written, For thy fake we are killed all the day long we are accounted as fheep for the flaughter.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am perfuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things prefent, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature fhall be able to feparate us from the love of God which is in Chrift Jefus our Lord.

CHAP. XII.

Befeech you therefore, brethren, by the mereies of God, that ye prefent your bodies a living facrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable fervice.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

3 For I fay, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think fo

dealt to every man the meafure of faith. T

4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the fame office:

5 So we, being many, areTM one body in Chrift, and every one members one of another.

6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace' that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophefy according to the proportion of faith;

7 Or miniftry, let us wait on our miniftering; or he that teacheth, on teaching;

8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with fimplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that fheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

9 Let love be without diffimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
