The saints below and saints above Here, in their house of pilgrimage, LORD, may our union form a part Derive its pulse from Thee, the Heart, "STAND UP AND BLESS THE LORD." STAND up and bless the LORD, Ye people of His choice; Stand up and bless the LORD your GOD, Though high above all praise, Above all blessing high, Who would not fear His holy name, Oh for the living flame From His own altar brought, There, with benign regard, Our hymns He deigns to hear; GOD is our strength and song, And His salvation ours; Then be His love in Christ proclaimed With all our ransomed powers. Stand up and bless the LORD, The LORD your GOD adore; Stand up and bless His glorious name, I WILL REMEMBER THEE. ACCORDING to Thy gracious word, This will I do, my dying LORD; Thy body, broken for my sake, Gethsemane can I forget? Or there Thy conflict see, When to the cross I turn mine eyes, O Lamb of GOD, my Sacrifice, Remember Thee, and all Thy pains, Yea, while a breath, a pulse remains, And when these failing lips grow dumb, And mind and memory flee, When Thou shalt in Thy kingdom come, Then, LORD, remember me. GOD'S PRESENCE. WHEN on Sinai's top I see When, in ecstacy sublime, When on Calvary I rest, Here I would for ever stay, THE PRAISE OF GOD. SING we the song of those who stand Of every kindred, clime, and land, Life's poor distinctions vanish here; Toil, trial, suffering, still await Worthy the Lamb, for sinners slain ! Blessing and honour to obtain, And everlasting love. Worthy the Lamb! on earth we sing, Henceforth, O Death! where is thy sting? Then hallelujah! power and praise THE OFFICES OF THE MINISTRY. WE bid thee welcome in the name Come as a Servant, so He came, Come as a Shepherd: guard and keep Come as a Watchman: take thy stand Come as an Angel, hence to guide Come as a Teacher, sent from GOD, Come as a Messenger of peace, THE LORD IS IN OUR MIDST. NOT here, as to the prophet's eye, Yet GOD is present in this place, Nor as He in the temple taught, Is Christ within these walls revealed, When blind, and deaf, and dumb were brought, Yet here, when two or three shall meet, IN TIME OF PESTILENCE. LET the land mourn through all its coasts, Princes and rulers at their posts Awhile sit desolate. Let the whole people, high and low, The Maker of them all. For GOD hath summoned from his place To waken, warn, and scourge our race, Let churches weep within their pale, Let each in secresy bewail The plague of his own heart. So, while the land bemoans its sin, And mercy, tempering wrath, bring in UNIVERSAL ADORATION. FALL down, ye nations, and adore |
