Let hallelujahs to the skies, Come from the East with gifts, ye kings, Come from the West, the bond, the free; Like halcyon-nests, in GOD rejoice. Come from the South; through desert sands Come from the North; let Europe raise Give GOD the glory, power, and praise, For He hath bowed the heavens above, With smiles, O earth! thy Maker meet; SABBATH WORSHIP. THOUSANDS, O LORD of Hosts! this day And tens of thousands throng to pay They see Thy power and glory there, They read, they hear, they join in prayer, They sing Thy deeds, as I have sung, For Thou art in their midst to teach, I, of such fellowship bereft, In spirit turn to Thee; Oh! hast Thou not a blessing left, The dew lies thick upon the ground, The manna rains from heaven around, Behold Thy prisoner;-loose my bands, I may not to Thy courts repair, To faith reveal the things unseen; Let love, without a veil between, Oh, make Thy face on me to shine, Lift up Thy countenance benign JERUSALEM. DAUGHTER of Zion, from the dust Again in thy Redeemer trust, He calls thee from the dead. Awake, awake, put on thy strength, The day of freedom dawns at length, Rebuild thy walls, thy bounds enlarge, Say to the South, "Give up thy charge, They come, they come!-thine exiled bands, Have heard thy voice in distant lands, Thus, though the universe shall burn, With songs the ransomed shall return, THE HOLY SPIRIT INVOKED. SPIRIT of power and might, behold Creator Spirit! as of old, Move on the formless void. Give Thou the word; that healing sound And earth again, like Eden crowned, If sang the morning stars with joy, And if the sons of GOD rejoice To hear a Saviour's name, How will the ransomed raise their voice, Lo! every kindred, tongue, and tribe, Thy new creation shall ascribe CONSECRATION. THIS stone to Thee in faith we lay; Here, when Thy people seek Thy face, Here, when Thy messengers proclaim Hosanna to their heavenly King! And heaven with earth the strain prolong. But will indeed JEHOVAH deign Here to abide,—n Here will the world's Redeemer reign? And here the Holy Spirit rest? That glory never hence depart? Yet choose not, LORD, this house alone: Thy kingdom come to every heart; In every bosom fix Thy throne. REPENTANCE. MERCY alone can meet my case; Jesus, Redeemer, show Thy face In mercy, or Í die. Save me, for none beside can save. At Thy command I tread, With failing step, life's stormy wave ;The wave goes o'er my head. I perish, and my doom were just; Still sure to me Thy promise stands, To this, this only will I cleave; SACRAMENTAL HYMN. COMMUNION of my Saviour's blood, To feed by faith on Christ my Bread, This be my joy and comfort here, And break the bread and pour the wine. From Thy dear hand may I receive Ah! there, though in the lowest place, What then will their fruition be, They are for ever with the LORD. |
