We left Oakfield at Ferozepore, waiting in that hot July weather for the sentence of the court martial ; which sentence (it may be as well to say) is agreed upon in a cleared court, by the members, under an oath of secrecy, both as to their own and their neighbours' votes; as also the finding of guilty or not guilty is first voted upon individually, going upwards from the junior member; and afterwards the sentence is decided

in a similar manner; the proceedings are then closed, and sent up to
