PRINTED FOR PATRICK MARTIN AND CO. 33, ORCHARD-STREET, OXFORD-STREET ;

J. BALLANTYNE AND CO. EDINBURGH; AND J. CUMMING. DUBLIN.

Orchard-Street, Portman-Square, July 28, 1813. MAJOR OLFERMAN's valuable Treatise, dedicated to Sir John Stuart, will be commenced in our Third Volume. Some very interesting Anecdotes of the Retreat of Buonaparte and his army from Moscow, collected from officers who served in the Russian armies at the time, will be given in the next Number and Supplement; also a conclusion to the Narrative of the Campaigns in Russia.

The Facts and Calculations respecting the Population and Territory of the United `States will have early attention.

Together with our following Number will be published a SUPPLEMENT, containing a beautifully-engraved Portrait of the late General Fitzpatrick, and a Plan of the Battle of Talavera.-It will also contain the biographies of Gen. Fitzpatrick; of Captain Freemantle, the bearer of the last dispatches from the Marquis of Wellington; and of Alexander I. and Francis II.; a conclusion to the Narrative of the Campaigns in the North; the Armistice; Anecdotes of Buonaparte and his army in the Retreat; Facts and Calculations respecting the Population and Territory of the United States of America; important Instructions for a Minister when sent on a Diplomatic Mission, to the Continental Courts, exposing the principles that influence the Tugend-Vereind, or Tugend-Bund, the Intrigues of the different Court Parties, and other important Facts; Narrative of the Battle of Talavera; a variety of interesting Correspondence from the Theatres of War, containing accounts of the Battle of Victoria; important General Orders and Army Regulations; Courts-Martial; Correspondence on various Military Subjects; Gazettes, &c. &c.

Our warmest acknowledgements are due to the several individuals who have favoured us with Poetical Contributions. Those not inserted will appear in the following number.

We shall give publicity in the Third Volume of this Work to various highly important State Papers, and other interesting Documents relating to all the foreign Courts of Europe; their Policy, Resources, and Cabinet Intrigues.—These Papers will be procured and drawn up expressly for the Military Panorama, and we therefore shall feel it an obligation due to ourselves, to punish with the greatest severity any plagiarisms, &c. therefrom.

We flatter ourselves that the favours of our Correspondents not inserted in the present Number will appear in the following and SUPPLEMENT.

Crito's second communication has been received; he may rest assured of our exertions and scrutiny in the case of the officer he alludes to, and we again recommend his forwarding the statement to that quarter where the fraudulent conduct complained of will receive the investigation it demands.-We would call to the attention of the Public Defrauder he mentions, the Court-Martial of a Colonel, against whom Colonel Cawthorn brought twelve charges: on eleven of which he was acquitted; but on the twelfth, of using His Majesty's coals at his house at Brighton, he was found guilty. The candour with which the subject has been brought before us, renders it perfectly unnecessary to make any inquiries in the neighbourhood of the Officer's late residence.

Interesting Descriptions of the Battle of Victoria, from the pens of Officers engaged therein, will, with a mass of Correspondence from the Theatre of War, appear in the next Number and Supplement.

Lord Cathcart's biography will be given as soon as we receive a beautiful engraving of that officer, at present in the hands of an artist of distinguished abilities.

Military Essays, Reviews of Military Works, Biographical Notes, Journals of Sieges, and every Military operation, will at all times be particularly attended to; and the authors of such communications may rest assured that the Editor will preserve an inviolable secrecy as to their names, and when requested will confer with them personally on the subject of their communications.

As the Panorama is published in a manner that will always render it not only a useful and necessary, but also an elegant work for the confined library of the Military man, and to deserve a prominent place on the shelves of the scholar and the gentleman, it consequently requires very considerable time for printing and binding, and it is therefore requested that those correspondents who are desirous for an early publication of their favours, will transmit them at the commencement of each month, directed to the Editor, 33, Orchard-Street.
