Court General on Wednesday in the feast of
St. Katherine, 18 Edw. IV.

* * And further the Jury aforesaid charged with certain customs of the domain aforesaid, say upon their oath, that the custom of the Manor of Wymbildon is, and from the time of which the memory of man exists not to the contrary was, that the Steward, or his Deputy of the Domain aforesaid, or two tenants, suitors of the Court of the aforesaid Domain at least; out of the Court of the Domain, may well take and record a surrender of lands and tenements, within the domain aforesaid.

At this [Court] the lord, by his steward and by the advice of his counsel, granted out of his hands to William Jakson, William Danyell, Richard Bonham, William Reculver, and Richard Welbek, to them, their heirs and assigns, all his wood and land lying in the wild land, otherwise waste land, in Wymbildon aforesaid, of those parcels of land lately belonging to the Wardland there, and which from ancient time were arable lands; and now and for many years the said lands are so grown over and choked with brambles, thorns, and furze, that for many years the lords of the aforesaid manor received no profits therefrom: to have all the premises to the beforesaid William,

Thomas, Richard, William, and Richard, to them, their heirs and assigns, by the rod, according to the custom of the manor, rendering and paying therefore yearly to the lord and his successors, at the terms there usual, 20s. sterling, for all other services and demands. Provided always that if hereafter the lands and wood aforesaid among them be separated, then the lord, for himself and his successors, granted by these presents that thereafter distraint or distraints for the rent aforesaid, in any manner, shall not be taken for all the rent in one part so separated, but only after the rate, viz., for each of the said tenants, 4s. for their part so separated; and the less because the aforesaid William and the others beforenamed for many years paid the rent aforesaid before this grant so made, and had no profit therefrom, because it was not separated from the other lands there; but now it will be separated by divine favour, for the profit of the lord and his tenants. And so they were admitted, and did their fealty, &c.

Mortlake.

And that Robertd. Trot entered the common of the lord there, and took 10 cart-loads of turves, when he has no common there. Therefore he is amerced. * * And that the inhabitants there ought to make one gate near Prestbrig. Therefore it was commanded to amend, &c.
