This little girl was Lucy. She was so glad that she ran at once to all her little girl friends, and asked them to come to the party and to bring their dollies with them.

The day for the party had come, and Lucy stood at the door to welcome her friends. One by one they came with their lovely dolls. When they were all seated in the play-room

"Sleep, dolly, sleep, blue eyes so bright, Mamma will watch, all will be right; Sleep, dolly, sleep, mamma is near, When blue eyes open, mamma is here!"

When all the dolls were fast asleep each little girl put her doll in its bed. Then the little girls were very quiet. At last they crept quietly out of the room, closed the door, and played "Blind Man's Buff" on the lawn.

It was a fine game, and they all enjoyed it. They played so long and so loud that one doll opened her eyes and began to cry. Then all the dolls opened their eyes and sat up. "Where

is my mamma ?" cried Lucy's doll, "and mine?" "and mine?" said all the dolls. Then they began to cry. The tears ran down their sweet faces. They were so unhappy.

The little girls on the lawn were too full of play to hear a doll cry. But Lucy's mother heard them, and called the girls. They ran to the play-room, took the dollies in their arms, sang to them, and begged them to be quiet.

But the dolls were very unhappy, and cried all the more. "Now, dolly, dear, please do not cry," begged Lucy; "if you are quiet we will give you a lunch."

Then all the dolls became quiet, looked up, and smiled. The girls gave them seats at the dolls' table,
