DEATHS.

On the 6th of January last, at Canterbury, Major Thomas O'Neil, Assistant Quarter-Master-General to His Majesty's Forces, and a Captain in the 9th Regt. of Foot; a man deeply lamented by his numerous friends and comrades, and not easily to be forgotten in the department in which he served, from that genius and those acquirements which he unpresumingly exercised in the performance of every duty, and which have been recognized in the most honourable way by his superiors. He was buried with all due military honours by the garrison, in which the depôt of his regiment is included. He has left a widow, who has faithfully shared his fortunes in many varieties of service, and three sons, the eldest a Lieutenant in the 93d regiment; the second in his late father's department; and the third pursuing a liberal education.

On the 20th of February, at Fermoy, very suddenly, in his 68th year, Edward Byrne, Esq. late Paymaster of the 16th regiment, in which corps he had served with the highest character for fifty years, and had recently retired on half-pay. His remains were interred with military honours, and attended by his brother officers. On the 6th of March, at his house Maize-hill, Greenwich, Major-General Sir John Douglas.

MARRIAGE.

On the 5th of February, at St. George's, Bloomsbury, R. P. Hulme, Esq. to Maria, fourth daughter of the late Colonel Wyndham.
