careful, therefore, to keep a conscience void of offence, and pray sincerely with the Church in her excellent thanksgiving, "We beseech Thee, give us that due sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful, and that we may shew forth thy praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days, through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with the Father and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and glory world without end. Amen.

ON JUSTIFICATION

SERMON VI.

ROM. iii. 21-26.

21. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the Prophets.

22. Even the righteousness of God, which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all, and upon all them that believe, for there is no difference.

23. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. 24. Being justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

25. Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation, through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness, for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.

26. To declare, I say, at this time, his righteousness, that he might be just, and the justifier of him that believeth in

Jesus.

you have paid attention to my two last discourses upon this chapter, you will recollect hat I set forth the fall and depravity of the human race, and that I maintained, agreeably. to the Apostle's declaration, that

none

there is

righteous, no not one," and that by the deeds of the law no flesh living can be justified in the sight of God. What impression this doctrine has made upon your minds I know not, but certain I am it ought to lead
