The selections consist, occasionally, of Four, Five, or Six verses: but, depending upon the room left for their insertion in the crowded pages of the Musical Work, and for the convenience of singers, they are composed generally of Three verses. There are, however, at the end of the book, suitable Doxologies, whereby persons accustomed to sing Four verses have a convenient opportunity of extending their psalmody exercises. In Congregations, Choirs, and Families, where the ENGLISH PSALMODY may be introduced, this MANUAL will be found useful in obviating the difficulty, which is always experienced, of reading the words when more than two or three persons sing from one music book.
