29, AND at what time, and whenfoever any perfon fhall In the cafe accufe any perfon or perfons to be guilty of treafon, murder, of heinous or other felony, blafphemy, inceft, or any other heinous crime, in fuch cafe the faid Justice or Justices fhall forthwith caufe fuch perfon or perfons to be apprehended, and, after inquiry made into the cafe, the faid Juftice or Juftices, if they find caufe, fhall commit the offender to prifon, or take fufficient bail, if the cafe by law be bailable; and fhall take the information of the party accufing, upon oath, and bind him to profecute; and fhall take the teftimony or depofitions of the witnefies, likewife upon oath, and binde them to give in evidence; and fhall alfo take the examination of the party accufed: all which recognifances, informations, depofitions, and examinations, the faid Juftice or Juftices fhall certify to the next Quarter-Seffions, Affizes, or Criminal Courts, for gaol delivery refpectively, to the end the Juftice may proceed against them according to the law.

pointed for the maintenance of the poor thereof; and the perfons who have the faid fums in their hands are hereby required to deliver the fame to the faid overfeers, and their receipts, under their hands, fhall be their fufficient difcharge; which fums fo received the overfeers are to diftribute proportionably to the feveral poor people aforefaid, according as they fhall find their neceffities to require; and where the collections and other monies aforefaid are found deficient for the maintenance of the faid poor, the faid Juftices are hereby empowered to give order to the faid parish to lay a tax or ftint upon the whole parishioners or inhabitants, according to the estimation of their eftates and conParochial ditions, for fuch a weekly or monthly contribution as fhall be found neceffary towards the maintenance of the faid poor, and putting the faid orphans to schools or callings, as they fhall think them fittest for, and to take care that it be effectually done and the faid overfeers are to demand and receive from all and every perfon of the faid parifh, according to the faid ftint or tax; and in cafe any perfon or perfons thall refuse to make payment of the faid proportions, upon reprefenting thereof to the faid Juftices, they fhall give ordiftraining der for diftraining and poinding of their goods for and poind thereof. And the faid overfeers are to take due trial of the good behaviour and carriage of the poor perfons lifted and inrolled as aforefaid; that if any of them being fo provided for, do go abroad to beg, or otherwise miscarry themselves, or fhall refuse, being able to work any manner of work that they are able to perform, in fuch cafes the faid overfeers are to acquaint the faid Juftices therewith, who fhall appoint fuch punishments for the first fault as in their judgments they fhall find requifite; and if they fhall continue in fuch Begging mifcarriages, they are to be held and reputed as vagabonds, punished. and fo to be proceeded against according to the law in that cafe provided.
