2 Which of all our friends to save us

Could or would have shed his blood?
But our Jesus died to have us
Reconciled in him to God.
This was boundless love indeed,
Jesus is a friend in need.

3 When He lived on earth abased,
Friend of sinners was His name;
Now, above all glory raised,
He rejoices in the same.

Still He calls them brothers, friends;
Still to all their wants attends.

4 Oh, for grace our hearts to soften!
Teach us, Lord, at length to love;
We, alas! forget too often

21.

1

What a friend we have above.
But when home our souls are brought,
We will love Thee as we ought.

Looking to Jesus.

JESUS, Lord, we look to Thee,
Meek and humble may we be;

Pride and anger put away,
Love Thee better day by day.

2 May we hate a lying tongue,
Never seek another's wrong;
From all paths of sin abstain,
Paths that lead to shame and pain.

3 Teach us for our friends to pray,
And our parents to obey;
Richest blessings from above,
Give them for their tender love.

4 Thou didst once our nature take,
Born a child for sinners' sake;
May we, while we live below,
In Thy holy likeness grow.

5 Cleanse our hearts, our sins forgive,
Form us new, that we may live-
Live to love Thee-live to rise
To Thy temple in the skies.

GOD

Prayer for Guidance.

of mercy, throned on high,
Listen from Thy lofty seat;

Hear, O hear our feeble cry!
Guide, O guide our wandering feet!

2 Young and erring travellers, we
All our dangers do not know;
Scarce descry the stormy sea,
Hardly feel the tempest blow.

3 Jesus, lover of the young,
Cleanse us with Thy blood divine;
Ere the tide of sin grows strong,
Save us, Lord, and keep us Thine.

Coming to Jesus.

YOUNG children once to Jesus came,
His blessing to entreat;

And I may humbly do the same
Before His mercy-seat.

C.M.

2 For when their feeble hands were spread,
And bent each infant knee;
"Forbid them not," the Saviour said,
And so He says to me.

3 Well pleased these little ones to see,
The dear Redeemer smiled;
Oh, then, He will not frown on me,
A poor unworthy child.

4 If babes so many years ago
His tender pity drew,

He will not surely let me go
Without a blessing too.

5 Then while, this favour to implore,
My youthful hands are spread,
Do Thou Thy sacred blessing pour,
Dear Jesus, on my head.

24.

Praise for Redemption.

1 SHALL hymns of grateful love

Through heaven's high arches ring,

And all the hosts above

Their songs of triumph sing?

And shall not we take up the strain,
And send the echo back again?

6.8.

2 Shall every ransomed tribe Of Adam's scattered race To Christ all power ascribe,

Who saved them by His grace? And, &c. 3 Shall they adore the Lord

Who bought them with His blood,

And all the love record

That led them home to God? And, &c.

4 O spread the joyful sound, The Saviour's love proclaim, And publish all around

Salvation, through His name,

Till the whole world take up the strain,
And send the echo back again.

25.

Jesus the Friend of Sinners.

1 JESUS, Lord of life and glory,

Friend of children, hear our lays;
Humbly would our souls adore Thee,
Sing Thy name in hymns of praise.
2 0 what debtors to Thy kindness,
Are we, God of boundless love!
Thousands wander on in blindness,
Strangers to the light above.

3 Jesus, on Thine arm relying,

We would tread this earthly vale;
Be our life, when we are dying;

8.7.

Be our strength, when strength shall fail.

4 Let us mount the hills of glory,
Far from sins, and woes, and pains;
There, in perfect songs, adore Thee,
And in everlasting strains.

26. The Kind Shepherd.
SEE

the kind Shepherd Jesus stands,
With all-engaging charms;
Hark, how He calls the tender lambs,
And folds them in His arms.

2 Permit them to approach, He cries,
Nor scorn their humble name;
For 'twas to bless such souls as these
The Lord of angels came.

3 He'll lead us to the heavenly streams,
Where living waters flow;
And guide us to the fruitful fields,
Where trees of knowledge grow.

4 The feeblest lamb amidst the flock
Shall be its Shepherd's care;
While folded in the Saviour's arms,
We're safe from every snare.

27.

Jesus worthy of Praise.

MIGHTY God, while angels bless Thee,
May an infant lisp Thy name?
Lord of men as well as angels,
Thou art every creature's theme;
Hallelujah,
Hallelujah, Amen!

C.M.
