His Son Edward was, in the firft Year of Queen Elizabeth's Reign, created Lord Beauchamp, and Earl of Hertford; whofe Grandfon was, in the firft of King Charles the Ift, created Marquis of Hertford, and afterwards Duke of Somerfet. But this Line failed at laft, and the prefent Duke defcends from Sir Francis Seymour, third Son of the above Edward Lord Beauchamp, who by King Charles the Ift was created Lord Seymour of Trou bridge; he left an only Son Charles, who marry'd Elizabeth, Daughter to William Lord Allington of Horfefbel in Cambridgeshire; by whom he had two Sons, Francis, who was bafely murder'd in Italy in the Year 1687, and Charles the prefent Duke. His Grace was a Widower, having been first marry'd to the Lady Elizabeth Piercy, Widow and Relict of Henry Cavendish Earl of Ogle, only Son and Heir to Henry late Duke of Newcastle: She was fole Daughter and Heir to Joceline Piercy, the 11th and laft Earl of Northumberland.

The Lady Charlotte, whom his Grace has now marry'd, is fecond Daughter to the moft Noble and Puiffant Lord Daniel Finch, Earl of Nottingham, Baron Finch of Daventry and Baronet: "Which Family was advanced to the Title of Baron in the Year 1673, and to that of Earl in the 23d Year of King Charles the II, This Month General Steuart was 'marry'd to Mrs. Eilzabeth Alfton, Sifter to Sir Rowland Alfton.

John Hedges, Efq; is appointed his Majefty's Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the King of Sardinia.
