N. B. The officers in the foregoing lift have been all created pofterior to the firft eftablishment, as the exigencies of the fervice required; and as they are not permanent but only temporary, and the perfons who act in them fubject to be difcontinued, it is almoft impoffible to give an exact ftate of the increase of their numbers and falaries from the great variety of changes that take place, many of the officers being employed perhaps only for a fingle quarter, and difcontinued the enfuing one if they are judged to be unneceffary.

That upon recept of our commiffion, having confidered how foon this duty was to commence, we were under a neceffity to employ fuch officers as we humbly conceive were proper and abfolutely neceffary, which we hope will receive your lordship's favourable approbation.

That having with application confidered the circumftances of this branch of the revenue, and the qualifications of the perfons employed, we have here drawn a lift of their names, and fuch yearly falaries as we humbly conceive they may deferve, and in diftinct columns are fet down thofe who were formerly employed in the cuftoms with their additional falaries, and those who (with your lordships approbation) are defigned to be brought in this eftablishment with their refpective falaries.

If we are fo happy as to receive your lordships approbation in this matter, we pray your lordships order for difpatching their prefentments, and a falary bill from May 1, 1714, to the 24th of June laft, that the quarterly bill may hereafter fall in due courfe, and for obtaining your lordships warrant for employing the officers, and payment of their refpective falaries.

That this establishment may be complete, and accounts carried on regularly, we pray your lordships warrant for paying fuch falaries, as your lordships fhall think fit for ourselves the commiffioners, comp
