Juno caused her to be watched by the hundred-eyed Argus (v. 791); whom, however, Mercury slew by Jupiter's command. After this, Io was smitten with madness by Juno, and wandered into Egypt. There, through Jupiter, she regained her former shape, married king Osiris, and was subsequently worshipped as an Egyptian deity under the name of Isis.
