In this month uncover the Roots of Trees, and cover with Dung the Roots of new-planted Trees, to prevent the Frost from injuring them. Cut all dead Branches off Fruit Trees. Plant Quicksets, and cleanse Trees from Moss. Sow Cresses, Mustard, Radish, Lettuce, and other small Herbs, in a warm rich Soil.

Sow Hotspur Pease, put fresh Earth to your ge, Thyme, and other sweet Herbs. Trans plant young Fruit Trees, prune Vines; trench d soil Ground for the Spring.

Let not Blood, and use no Physic, unless ere be a Necessity: Eat often, and avoid too ich Sleep.

To understand the fourth column-opposite Jan: 1 nds 8 54; that is, the Sun rises 5 m. after 8, and s 5 m. before 4: and so of the rest.

The figures in the fifth column, which denote the Don's Age, will enable the Reader to find, by refer g to the Table in p. 26, the time of high water at rious places in England.
