That a bay mare, called Small Hopes, which this deponent (by his fervant) now offers to enter and run for the Hunter's Plate, at never started for either Match or Plate, but has been actually used as a Hunter at the laft feafon, and not only to get the name, but really as a Hunter; nor has he been in fweats with an intention to run, but only from Lady day laft.

RULES

RULES AND ORDERS

O F THE

JOCKEY-CLUB.

THAT every perfon who fhall ride at New

market for Plate, Sweepstakes, or

Match, fhall be obliged to weigh when he Concerning comes in, allowing two pounds above the the Riders. weight, and no more.

That every rider who fhall neglect to obey this refolution, is guilty of contempt of the Order of this Club, and fhall be difqualified from riding hereafter at Newmarket; unless any gentleman, or his rider, fhall declare, before starting, that the rider is above the weight allowed of by the aforefaid refolutions.

That the forfeits of all betts which fhall be made after the first day of January, 1768,

fhall be paid according to the proportion Forfeits. in which the Principals compromise their

Matches.

That any perfon defirous of being admitted into. the coffee-room, Newmarket, must be proposed by a member of the JockeyClub, and his name put over the Chimney and Door the day before he is to be ballotted for; that there must be at least twelve members prefent at the ballot, and three black balls exclude.
