THIS Volume is not intended to be a collection of Hymns or Sacred Poetry already well known and popular-such as are in every one's hands, and have become household words in Christian homes; but it is rather a volume of Devotional Poetry, some published now for the first time, and much of it from sources not generally known, brought together to illustrate and adorn some Gospel theme or precious promise, on which the believer loves to dwell.
