From the painting by Robert W. Weir. When the Seneca chief sat to Weir for this painting, he went to the studio accompanied by his interpreter and a number of braves, all of whom showed uncommon interest in the progress of the work. The medal Red Jacket wears was given to him by Washington, and he was never without it, even when clothed only in nature's garb.

She was killed near Fort Edward, New York, in July, 1777, and (it is said) by Indian allies of Burgoyne.
