LECTURE İ. 2 Tim. i. 8-10.-Be not therefore afhamed of the tefti- mony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel, according to the power of God; who hath faved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but accord- ing to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Chrift Jefus, before the world began; but is now made manifeft by the appearing of our Saviour Jefus Exod. xxiv. 15-18.-And Mofes went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount. And the glory of the Lord abode upon Mount Sinai, and the cloud cov- ered it fix days and the feventh day he called unto Mofes out of the midst of the cloud. And the fight of the glory of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mount, in the eyes of the children of Ifrael. And Mofes went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up Exod. xxxii. 1-4.-And when the people faw that Mofes delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods which fhall go before us; for as for this Mofes, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. And Aaron faid unto them, Break off the golden ear-rings which are in the ears of your wives, of your fons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. And all the people brake off the golden ear-rings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. And he re- ceived them at their hand, and fashioned it with a grav- ing-tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they Exod. xxxiii. 8—11.—And it came to pass, when Mofes went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rose up, and stood every man at his tent-door, and looked after Mofes, until he was gone into the tabernacle. And it came to pass, as Mofes entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar defcended, and ftood at the door of the tab- ernacle, and the Lord talked with Mofes. And all the people faw the cloudy pillar ftand at the tabernacle-door: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in LECTURE V. History of Mofes. 80 Exod. xxxiv. 29, 30.-And it came to pass when Mofes came down from Mount Sinai, (with the two tables of teftimony in Mofes's hand, when he came down from the mount) that Mofes wist not that the skin of his face fhone, while he talked with him. And when Aaron and all the children of Ifrael faw Mofes, behold, the fkin of his face fhone, and they were afraid to come nigh him. LECTURE VII. History of Moses. 94 Exod. xxxix. 42, 43.-According to all that the Lord commanded Mofes, fo the children of Ifrael made all the work. And Mofes did look upon all the work, and behold, they had done it as the Lord had commanded, even fo had they done it: and Mofes blessed them. LECTURE VIII. History of Moses. 105 Exod. xl. 17, 34-38.-And it came to pass in the firft month, in the fecond year, on the first day of the month, that that the tabernacle was reared up. Then a cloud cover, ed the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And Mofes was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Ifrael went onward in all their journies. But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not, till the day that it was taken up. For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the fight of all the house of Ifrael, throughout all their journies. LECTURE IX. History of Aaron. 120 Numb. xx. 23-29.—And the Lord fpake unto Mofes and Aaron in Mount Hor, by the coast of the land of Edom, faying, Aaron fhall be gathered unto his people: for he fhall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Ifrael, because ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah. Take Aaron and Eleazar his fon, and bring them up unto Mount Hor: and trip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar bis fon and Aaron fhall be gathered unto his people, and shall die there. And Mofes did as the Lord commanded: and they went up into Mount Hor, in the fight of all the congregation. And Mofes ftripped Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his fon; and Aaron died there in the top of the mount. And Mofes and Eleazar came down from the mount. And when all the congregation faw that Aaron was dead, they mourned for Aaron thirty days, even all the houfe of Ifrael. LECTURE 2 Pet. ii. 15, 16.-Thefe are gone aftray, following the way of Balaam, the fon of Bofor, who loved the wages of unrighteoufnefs. But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb afs, fpeaking with man's voice, forbad the madness of the prophet. LECTURE XIV.
