First published in 1905, The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism is listed by the International Sociological Association as the fourth most important book of the XX century.In this milestone of economical philosophy, Max Weber illustrates how Calvinist work ethic played a key role for the development of capitalism in Northern Europe through the engagement in trade and economic enterprise and the accumulation of wealth by a large portion of the population.
