Q. How could that be, feeing he lay but one whole day?

A. Because he lay the parts of two days, Friday and Sunday.

Q. What day of the Week did he rise again?

A. The first Day, Matth. xxviii. 1. In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn towards the firft day of the week, came Mary Magdalen, and the other Mary, to fee the Sepulchre. Mark xvi. 2. and very early in the morning, the first day of the week, they came unto the Sepulchre at the rifing of the Sun. Thence called the Lord's Day; Revel. i. 10. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet.

Q. Why did he rife again?

A. For our Juftification, Rom. iv. 25. Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our juftification. Acts iii. 26. Unto you first, God having raifed up his Son Jesus, fent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his ini quity.

He afcended into Heaven,

Q. What is that?

A. His Soul and Body were taken up into Hea ven, Joh. vi. 62. What and if ye shall fee the Son of Man afcend up where he was before. Joh. 1. 13. And no Man hath afcended up to Heaven but he that came down from Heaven, even the Son of Man which

is in Heaven.

Q. How doth that appear?

A. Luk. xxiv. 50, 51. And he led them out as far as to Bethany: and be lift up his hand, and bleffed them. And it came to pass, while he bieffed them,

he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. A&t. i. 9. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their fight.

2. How do ye prove that he went up as high as Heaven?

A. A&s i. 10, 11. And while they looked stedfaftly toward Heaven, as he went up, behold, two men ftood by them in white apparel, which also said, ye men of Galilee, why ftand ye gazing up into Heaven? This fame Jefus which is taken up from you into Heaven, Shall fo come, in like manner as ye have seen him go

into Heaven.

2. How long was it after his Resurrection before he afcended?

A. Forty days, Acts i. 3. To whom also he fhewed himself alive after his paffion, by many infallible proofs, being feen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. 2. Why did he afcend into Heaven?

A. That he might give us his Holy Spirit from thence, and apply the merits of his Death to us, Pfal. lxviii. 18. Thou haft afcended on high, thou haft led captivity captive, thou hast received gifts for men; yea for the rebelliqus alfo, that the Lord God might dwell among men. Eph. iv. 7, 8. But unto every one of us is given Grace according to the meafure of the gift of Chrift; wherefore he faith, when he afcended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. John xvi. 7. Nevertheless, I tell Jou the truth, it is expedient for you that I go away, for if I go not away, the comforter will not come unto you, but if I depart I will send him unto you. John xiv. 1, 2. Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would

have told you: I go to prepare a place for you. Heb. ix. 24. For Chrift is not entred into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven it felf, now to appear in the prefence of God for us.

And fitteth on the Right Hand of God the Father Almighty.

Q. How do ye prove that?

A. Mark xvi. 19. Sa then after the Lord had Spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and fat on the right hand of God. Pfal. cx. 1. The Lord Said unto my Lord, fit thou at my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool. Acts ii. 34. For David is not afcended into the heavens: but he faith himself, The Lord faid unto my Lord, fit thou on my right hand. Rom. viii. 34. Who is he that condemneth, it is Chrift that died, yea rather that is rifen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who maketh alfo interceffion for us.

2. What is meant by his fitting or being at the Right Hand of God?

A. His being advanced to the highest Honour and Power over all things, Matth. xxvi. 64. Jefus faith unto him, thou haft said: nevertheless I say unto you, hereafter shall ye fee the Son of man fitting at the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of hea ven. 1 Pet. iii. 22. Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God, Angels and Authorities and Powers being made subject unto him. Eph. i. 20, 21, 22. Which he wrought in Chrift when he raifed him from the dead, and fet him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all Principality, and Power, and Might, and Dominion, and

every name that is named, not only in this World, but alfo in that which is to come; and hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things, to the Church. Phil. ii. 9. Wherefore God alfo bath highly exalted him, and given him a Name which is above every name.

Q. What doth he there?

A. Make interceffion for us, Rom. viii. 34. Who is he that condemneth, it is Chrift that died, yea rather rifen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who alfo maketh interceffion for us. 1 John ii. 1. My Little Children, thefe things write I unto you, that fin not, and if any man fin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jefus Christ the righteous. Heb. vii. 25. Wherefore he is able alfo to fave them to the uttermoft that come unto God by him, feeing he ever liveth to make interceffion for us. 1 Tim. ii. 5. For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus. John xiv. 13. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my Name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Q. Why is the Father Almighty here added?

A. To fhew that Chrift can now do what he will for us, Matth. xxviii. 18. And Jefus came, and spake unto them, faying, all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. John x. 29. My Father which gave them me, is greater then all; and none is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. Acts v. 31. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give Repentance to Ifrael, and forgiveness of fins.

What follows herce?

A. 1. That we truft on him, Rom. viii. 33, 38, 39. Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. For I am perfwaded

that

that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things prefent, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, fhall be able to feparate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

2. And Worship him, John v. 22, 23. For the Father judgeth no man; but hath committed all judgment unto the Son; that all men should bonour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son, bonoureth not the Father which bath fent him. Heb. i. 6. And again, when he bringeth in the firft begotten into the World, be faith, and let all the Angels of God worship bim.

From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead,

2. From whence will he come?

A. From Heaven, Ats iii. 20, 21. And be fball fend Jefus Chrift, which before was preached unto you: Who the heaven must receive, until the time of reftitution of all things, which God bath Spoken by the Mouth of all his holy Prophets fince the World began.

2. How do ye prove that?

A. Acts i. 11. Te men of Galilee, why ftand ye gazing up into heaven, this fame Jefus which is taken up from you into heaven, fhall fo come, in like manner as ye bave feen him go into heaven.
