2. Ifee there is nothing in this World worth hoping for; wherefore I'll look above it; my hope is in GOD, Pfal. lxii. 5, 6. 1. What Grounds have we to hope in GOD?

His Promifes, Pfal. cxix. 147, 170. Heb. xiii. 5, 6. Rom. iv. 20. Confirmed to us in Chrift, 2 Cor. i. 20. Fpb. iii. 6. 2. What may we hope in him for? 1. In general, for every thing that can make us good, Ezek. xxxvi. 26, 27. or do us good, Rom. viii. 28. for his Wisdom to direct us, &c.

2. In particular, for Pardon and Deliverance from all our Tranfgreffions. What is neceffary in order to our hoping in GOD for the Pardon of our fins?

1. That we repent of them, Ifa. lv. 7. Ezek. xviii. 30. Luk. xiii. 3.

2. That we believe in Chrift, Mark i. 15.

Ats xvi. 31. Eph. i. 7. 1 John ii. 1, 2.

II. We fhall confider, and fo apply the words as fpoken by a dying Perfon; and David feems to have apprehended his Death near when he said them, v. 13. When you come to lie upon your Death-bed, you will then

1. Experience the vanity of this World, for nothing can then help you.

2. Be fenfible of all your Tranfgreffions, Job xiii. 26. and xx. 11.

3. You cannot expect or hope they should be pardoned, except you repent of them. 4. Upon your Repentance you may and ought to hope in GOD that he for Chrift's fake will pardon and deliver you from all your Tranfgreffions.

For which purpofe you muft then lift up your Hearts to Chrift, and trust on him, as your only Saviour: Lord Jefus receive my Spirit. And then he will do it.

PSAL. li. 4.

Against thee, thee only have I finned, and done this evil in thy fight: that thou mightest be juftified when thou fpeakeft, and be clear when thou judgeft.

All that are born of Men by natural Generation, are born in Sin and original Corruption. fay all that are born by natural Generation, that fo we may except our Saviour, who was born by Supernatural Conception..

When I fay all Men are born in Sin, I mean not only the imputation of fin to them, but likkewife the inhæfion of fin in them. For original fin comprehends both under it; fo that all Men
