THE

Die Veneris, 11° Januarij 1811.

HE Earl Harcourt reported, That he and the Lord Douglas of Lochleven had (according to Order) waited on Her Majefty with the Refolution and Addrefs of both Houfes of Parliament, and that Her Majefty was pleafed to return the following Anfwer:

My

My Lords and Gentlemen,

THAT

HAT Sense of Duty and Gratitude to the King, and of Obligation to this Country, which induced me, in the Year 1789, readily to promife my moft earnest Attention to the anxious and momentous Truft at that Time intended to be repofed in me by Parliament, is ftrengthened, if poffible, by the uninterrupted Enjoyment of those Bleffings which I have continued to experience, under the Protection of His Majesty since that Period; and I fhould be wanting to all my Duties, if I hesitated to accept the Sacred Truft which is now offered

to me.

THE Affiftance, in point of Council and Advice, which the Wisdom of Parliament proposes to provide for me, will make me undertake the Charge with greater Hopes that I may be able fatisfactorily to fulfil the important Duties which it must impofe

upon me.

Of the Nature and Importance of that Charge I cannot but be duly fenfible, involving as it does every Thing which is valuable to myself, as well as the highest Interests of a People, endeared to me by fo many Ties and Confiderations, but by nothing so strongly as by their steady, loyal, and affectionate Attachment to the beft of Kings.
