The Boy who Killed a Giant.

HE last of the Boys of the Bible that we have proposed to sketch is DAVID, the son of Jesse, the Beth-lehemite; who, though last on our list, is not least among the princes of Judah. From being a keeper of sheep and a feeder of his father's flocks, he, by the hand of God, was exalted to a throne, and his history and writings fill up a large space of the sacred records. The first mention of his name is found in a genealogical table at the end of the book of Ruth. Such supplementary tables of descent may be found in various parts of the Bible, and they were thus preserved in order that, in after ages, the descent of Jesus Christ from Abraham might be distinctly and accurately traced.
