HE SE Chapters are intended to supply a want which has been long and keenly felt by Theo logical Students both at home and in far-distant branches of the Anglican Communion. The idea of undertaking such a work is traceable to suggestions of the late Archbishop Laurence, who complained that while the doctrine Of the Articles, abstractedly considered, was evolved and harmonized in a suc cession of able treatises, no regular attempt was made in any Of those treatises to illustrate the framing of the Formulary itself, by placing 'it distinctly in connection with the kindred publications of an earlier and later date, and by expounding it as the peculiar product and reflection Of the Befor mation-movement.
