to my felf, that my owning him as my king, was a cafting off Chrift Jefus, who is Head and King of Zion, and taking on with him, and fo have incurred the wrath of God, and homɔlogate all the blood-thed and all the horrid bloody abominations they have committed in the land, with avowed defying of the great God O who dare join with fuch avowed ene-mies of our God, and fo caft off the fociety of the faints, and give the hind of fellowship to fuch bloody and men fworn wretches that is making it their whole work to root out godi nefs out of this covenanted land, that the name of Ifrael fhall no more be made mention of: but they will be all beguiled, for Chrift will reign, till all his enemies be made his footftool.

ift, I give my teftimony to the fure word of God, which is Scriptures of truth 2dly, I give my teftimony to the way of falvation through Jefus Chrift, and that by his fatisfaction." 3dly, I bear my teftimony to the work of reformation, as it was reformed from Popery, Prelacy, Eraftianifm, and other errors, as it is contained in the Confeffion of Faith, larger and fhorter catechifms. 4thly, I give my teftimony to the covenants national and folemn league, and folemn acknowledgment of tins, and engagement to duties, fum of faving knowledge, directory for worship: and to the caufes of God's wrath, drawn up by the general affembly of the church, after their meeting with the rotten hearted malignant Charles Stewart. 5thly, I bear my teftimony to the faithful actings of the remonftrators againft the malignant intereft, that is the very thing contended for by the true Prefbyterians of the church of Scotland. 6thly, I give my testimony, not to go farther back, feeing it homologates the reft of that notable teftimony, given at Lanerk against that tyrant and the test, intimated by that late parliament, which I could not but look upon it in the time of carrying on of it, and yet doth, that the remnant was owned of the Lord. 7thly, I bear my teftimony to all the faithful testimonies of the Martyrs, that have gone before us, whether on fcaffolds, or on the fields, or in the feas. 8thly, I bear my teftimony to all appearances in arms, for defence of the gof pel. 9thly, I bear my teftimony to the faithful preaching of the gefpel that hath been in the fields by the faithful and fene meffengers of Jetus Chrift, according to his own miffion, preaching days, communion days, and fast days, by Meffieurs Largi, King, Kid, Cameron and Dowglas. Tenthly, and Laftly, I bear my teftimony to the fellowship meetings of the Lord's people particular and general; my foul hath been many a time retrelhed with his prefence, in company with them.

Likewife, 1 bear my teftimony against the public refolutio ners for taking in the malignant intereft, for which this poor church is fiarting for this day, and feeling the weight of the tyrant's hand, for fuch eager lufting after the king. 2dly, I bear my teftimony against Hamilton declaration, which is one and the fame with the refolutioners, for taking in the forefaid intereft, contrary to the land's engagements in covenant. 3dly, For corrupting the army and other things, fuch as the excompunicate tyrant's intereft, cefs, and all other impofitions of that nature, for the down-bearing of Chrift's intereft, doing it "against a holy God. 4thly, I bear my teftimony against indulged minifters, for their not coming in by the door, but by the miffion of men, John x. 1. He that entreth not by the door into the fheep-fold, but climbeth up fome other way, the fame is a thief and a robber; they being entred by the tyrant, and not by the door; they are become men fervants, and not fervants to Jefus Chrift, and fo is become an Erastian party, which hath wronged our Lord and King more than the bloody prelatic party hath done thefe twenty years by gone, by their renting the church's bowels, and for dividing many a bofom friend, to the great hurt of the gospel sthly, I leave my teftimony against all corrupt minifters, fheltering themfelves under their wings, ftrengthning the ftakes of that plan tation, and for their dark and ambiguous preaching in not declaring the whole counsel of God. 6thly. I leave my teftimony against all the enemies and wrongers of my Lord's glorious priviledges and prerogatives, all in general: I leave my teftimo ny against that bloody murderer, John Reid which murdered a woman in the town of New milns, and now is carrying arms against Christ and his followers, who took me, and confeft to me, that he had not an order for it. And again that party that carried me to Edinburgh; and especially, Alexander Gemmil, my neighbour, for he vexed me more than all that party, for he faid I married folk, and baptized children, and mocked me moft dreadfully.

A line of advice to two or three forts of folk, to you that are old profeffors and covenanters in the weft of Scotland, and efpecially in Kilmarnock parish. What are ye doing? Where are ye now be when ye fwore the covenant, and fwore against Popery and Prelacy, and all that faction, fide and party! How are ye profecuting the ends of that covenant, now in the fight of God, and the oath of God, that ye fwore with hands lifted up to the most high God, and before heaven and earth, fun and moon? O my foul trembles to think what bad example ye are to the young generation, ye who fhould have been as the hegoats before the flock, to train them up in the way of God, and

the way of holiness and righteoufnefs, and now ye are leading them just the contrary: Should ye not have been more tender of the blood of the fouls of the young generation; as to turn your back upon your profeffion, and turn in with the men of thefe abominations in all things? O fear the wrath of that God, who has faid, "Shall any break the covenant and be deliver ed?" Now therefore, I defire, as ye tender your own fouls, that ye would turn again to your first husband, for it was better with you than it is now. Next, you that are the young generation, men and women, What are ye doing? Are ye following the footsteps of your fathers, in their courfes of defection, joining in hearing these perjured Curates, anfwering at their courts, joining in their worship with them, in their abominable and foul-deftroying courfes, contrary to the word of God, our folemn covenants, and Confeffion of Faith, larger and fhorter catechifms, the order of the Church of Scotland, in difcipline, worship and government, As they, y, and I, is fworn with hands lifted up to the moft high God, which no power on earth is able to loose, nor undo, nor free from no man, nor woman, baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost: O therefore take heed how ye think to anfwer before the 'great fin revenging God, beforewhom I am to appear within a little space, and before whon I and all the world will stand and be judged with righteous judg

ment,

And likewife feeing that I dare not but fhew you my mind anent fome perfons and their carriage in this day of Jacob's trouble, when Zion is lying wafte, and plowing like a field. First, I give my teftimony against thefe men, caled elders, in my own parish, because of their complying with every courfe of defection and abomination that comes alongt through the country: ift, They being thought to be faithful elders in the time of the Prefbyterian government, and ther turned elders to the Curate Carnegie, and then turned elders to Mr. Wadderburn that indulged minifter; and now ale feffioners to this Curate: And feeing this is true, that they have fhewed themselves to be men of no principles, and the Spirit of God faying exprefly, " Meddle not with then that are gi.65 ven to change:;" who can blame me to difiwn them.

I give my teftimony against John Boyd, called Baillie of Kilmarnock for his bloody courfes in man things, and efpe cially in his uplifting of the cefs and bloody fines, and in oppreffing the poor in their confciences, and laying on of dra goons upon them moft cruelly, which le did upon me four times; I with God may forgive him for what he has done in that matter.

Now accorning to my bleffed Lord's command, I am not poffelt with malice or a spirit of revenge, but bleffes, when urfed. As for thefe men that is unjustly taking away my life, not only contrary to the law of God, and the antient laws of the land, but even contrary to their own law Now for what they are doing to me, as I am in my self, I can freely forgive them, and all others; but as they do it against the image of God in me, and upon his truths account, and fo against himself, that is not mine to give, but leaves it to him to whom vengeance belongs, that he may deal with them as he may moft glorify himfelf. O if I could fpeak or write any thing to the commendation of the covenanted God of the church of Scotland; I have furely many things to fay, for that he tryfted my lot to be in a nation, where he hath fet up his pure worship; whereas he might justly have letten my lot be amongit Pigans, and heathen nations, that knows nothing of the true God. Or 2dly, He might have ordered it to be among these that are worthipping antichrift, that whore, that monstrous beat, that fits upon many waters; whofe fentence may be read inthe Rev. xiv. ver. 9 And the third angel followed them. faying with a loud voice, If any man worship the • beast andhis image, and receive his marks in his forehead, or in his haid, ver ro. The fame thall drink of the wine of the wrathof God, which is poured out without mixture, into the cup of his indignation; and he fhall be tormented with fire and bimstone, in the presence of the holy angels, and int the presene of the Lamb: ver. 1 And the fmoke of their torment atendeth up. for ever and ever and they have no reft day nor night, who worship the beaft and his image, and whofoever receiveth the mark of his name. And fo as fure as God is Gol, and the holy Scriptures are his word, according to which all men that have heard or feen it, fhall be judged, having the feitence of abfolution or condemnation paft according thereto, hom iì. 12. For as many as have finned without law, thalalfo perifh without law: So it is clear that the first will furey perifh, viz. all infidels, and atheists, and heathens, and pagins that knows not the true God nor his law : And as many as have finned in the law fhall be judged by the law;' And fo whatever vain hopes the Papists may have of being favd, living or dying Papists, or whatever chatity loofe profeffers hath on that head to give them, they are as far from being aved, as devils which are eternally cast out of his prefence.

3dly, I have himto blefs for this, that my lot is not among Corrupt proteftant churches abroad, Lutherians and other corruptions and abounding errors, both in doctrine, discipline,

worship and government, Sectarian, Epifcopal or Eraftian but in the reformed church of Scotland, where all these things hath been caft over the hedge as not plants of his planting, where he hath been owned in all his offices, Prophet, Prieft, and, King, though he may fay of us in a great meafure, as to the church of Ifrael of old, I have planted thee a noble vine; but thou art become a degenerate plant of a ftrange vine una to me,' etc. In that day of planting we could have fung that fong, Ifa. xxvi. We have a ftrong city, falvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks. Lam. iv. 11. The Lord nach accomplished his fury, he hath poured out his fierce an ger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, and it hath devoured the foundations thereof. ver. 12. The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world would not have believed that the adverfary and the enemy fhould have entered within the gates of Jerufalem vér 13. For the fins of her pro phets, and the iniquity of her priefts, that have fhed the blood of the just in the midst of her ver. 14. They have wandred as blind men in the streets, they have polluted themfelves with blood fo that men could not touch their garments. This may be our regret before God, as it is in the 7 ver Her • Nazarites were purer than fnow, they were whiter than milk they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing was of Saphire ver. 8. Their vifage is blacker than a coal: they ⚫ are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their • bones, it is withered like a stick, etc. O how unnatural like were it for the mother to let the child, the fon of her womb perish for lack of the breaft, were the free of the child's blood, it perithing for want of the lively preached gofpel ver. 3. "Even as the fea monsters draw out the breaft, they give "fuck to their young ones: the daughter of my people ❝is become cruel like the Oftriches in the wilderness.” And,

4thly, I have him to bless for this, that, I am not this day fighting againft him in an open ftated war, and fo bearing arms against him and his people, for there is no more in me as to my felf, than these that are embrewing their hands deeply in the blood of the faints.

5thly, I have him to blefs for this that ever he opened mine eyes to fee the mystery of iniquity that abounds and hath its feat in the heart: as alfo in fome measure, a fight of the reme dy in that blood of Jefus, with his fpirit engaging me to himfelf, letting me fee himfelf altogether precious, making me to fee that it is beetter to be a door keeper in the houfe of God than to dwell in the pleafures of fin for a feafon; Pfal.
