the lecturer illustrated the science by experiments made there and then upon a donkey!

I shall have sincere pleasure in acknowledging the receipt of any donations, however trifling, towards the object above named; and in handing them over to the Rev. Mr. Lyon, by whom they will be most thankfully received.

It now remains for me to submit this little work to the Christian public. Nothing but the strong feeling of a want, which I trust it will be found, in some measure to supply, has called it forth. I am sensible that it is marred by many defects, and I shall greatly rejoice if I can see its place occupied by a work, cheaper and better.

And of all good Christians I would ask a prayer, that the blessing of Almighty God may accompany this humble effort of a layman, to be to some extent useful in that Church, of which, by the grace of God, he is a member.
