11 † Hast thou not forsaken us, O { God: and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts? 12 † O help us against the en-emy: for vain is the help of man.

13 Through God we shall do great { acts and it is he that shall tread down our ene-mies.

GREAT is the Lord, and highly to be } prais-ed in the city of our God,* even upon his { ho-ly hill.

2 The hill of Sion is a fair place, and the joy of the whole { earth: upon the north-side lieth the

King;* God is well known in

sure re-fuge.

3 For lo, the kings of the earth: are gathered, and gone by to-ge-ther.

4 † They marvelled to see { such things: they were astonished, and { sudden-ly cast down.

5 † Fear came there upon them, and { sor-row : as upon a woman in her tra-vail.

6 † Thou shalt break the ships of the { sea: 6+ through the east wind.

7 (f) Like as we have heard,* so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts,* in the city of our { God: God upholdeth the same for ev-er.

8 We wait for thy loving-kindness, O { Gód: in the midst of thy tem-ple.

9 (f) O God, according to thy Name,* so is thy praise unto the world's end: thy right hand is { full of righteous-ness.

10 (f) Let the mount Sion rejoice,* and the daughter of Judah be glad: because of thy } judge-ments.

11 Walk about Sion, and go round a- {bout her: and tell the towers there-of.

12 Mark well her bulwarks, set up her hous-es: that ye may tell them that come af-ter. 13 (f) For this God is our God for ever and { ev-er: he shall be our guide { un-to death.

PSALM lxviii. Exurgat Deus.

Tone 8. A. (1.) p. 13. † (2.) p. 13.

LET God arise, and let his enemies be { scattered: let them also that hate him flee be-fore him.

2 Like as the smoke vanisheth,* so shalt thou drive them a way and like as wax melteth at the fire, so let the ungodly perish at the { presence of God.

3 (f) But let the righteous be glad and rejoice before God let them also be merry and joy-ful.

4 (f) O sing unto God, and sing praises unto his Name: magnify him that rideth upon the } heavens, as it were upon an horse;* praise him in his Name JAH, and re-joice be-fore him.

5 He is a Father of the fatherless,* and defendeth the cause of the wi-dows: even God in his holy { hab-i-ta-tion.

Tone 8. A. (1.) p. 13. † (2.) p. 13.

6 He is the God that maketh men to be of one mind in an house,* and bringeth the prisoners out of cap-ti-vity: but letteth the runagates con- {

tinue in scarce-ness.

7 O God, when thou wentest forth before the { peo-ple when thou wentest through the wilder

ness.

:

8 + The earth shook,* and the heavens dropped at the presence of God: even as Sinai also was moved at the presence of God,* who is the God of Is-rael.

9 (f) Thou, O God, sentest a gracious rain upon thine in- { her-itance: and refreshedst it { when it

11 (f) The Lord gave the word: great was the company of the preach-ers.

12 Kings with their armies did flee, and were dis- { com-fited: and they of the household di- { vided the spoil.

13 Though ye have lien among the pots,* yet

shall ye be as the wings of a dove: that is covered with silver wings,* and her feathers like gold.

14 When the Almighty scattered kings for { their sake: then were they as white as snow in Sal-mon.

15 As the hill of Basan, so is God's hill: even an high hill, as the hill of Ba-san.

16 Why hop ye so, ye high hills?* this is God's hill, in the which it pleaseth him to { dwell: (f) yea, the Lord will abide in § it for ev-er. {

17 The chariots of God are twenty thousand,* even thousands of an-gels: and the Lord is among them,* as in the holy place of Sin-ai.

18 (f) Thou art gone up on high,* thou hast led captivity captive, and received gifts for { men: yea, even for thine enemies,* that the Lord God might { dwell a-mong them.

Praised be the Lord § dái-ly:
