NOTE.-The Accents, which are here placed over all the more emphatic Notes of the several Tones, are introduced for the purpose of assisting those who have to teach them to Choirs. But in the Music placed at the head of each Psalm and Canticle, it will be observed that there is only one Accent employed, (the one already explained in this Introduction); and this is adopted for a distinct purpose, viz., as an expedient in the system of pointing.
