"He was not of an age, but for all time," declared Ben Jonson of his contemporary William Shakespeare (1564–1616). Jonson's praise is especially prescient, since at the turn of the 17th century Shakespeare was but one of many popular London playwrights and none of his dramas were printed in his lifetime. The reason so many of his works survive is because two of his actor friends, with the assistance of Jonson, assembled and published the First Folio edition of 1623.

Oxford版のSonnet集を長年愛読していますが、こうして手軽に読めるのは大助かり。　ただ、ソネット・１４行詩というのに、頁編集の都合か、2ページ表示となっており、ちょっと勢いをそがれる感じが否めません。　ま、手前勝手な願望が先立ってのこととご容赦ください。

This book is fabulous. I am so glad I bought it, The sonnets are great. The book itself is so pretty. It has a slight relief pattern on the cover, Each page has an old world look to it. I highly recommend it.

This is a fairly large book, so not one to pack for a trip but is beautifully and tastefully illustrated and would make a wonderful gift for anyone interested in the Bard.
I had never read all the sonnets before - just the most famous ones, but the mix of pictures and text drew me in and i read it from cover to cover in the end. Well worth the money
